As most of you may know a new bracelet making kit has come out. This kit is called Loom Bands. Loom bands are a bunch of little coloured rubber bands used on a loom to make bracelets or you can make them on your own fingers. They have become so popular that even boys are starting to use them. They have been given the title of most popular toy in America. You’re probably wondering if I have any. Well, yes I do. Here is a picture of my bands, loom and bracelets I have completed:

Snapshot 54

There are a lot of different loom bracelets you can make such as the Starburst, Triple Single, Fishtail, Ladder, Raindrop, Bow tie and many more.

Question Time:

Do you have loom bands?

If so, what have you made?

click to generate your own textRemeberance day is when we remember the people who fought for our country and joined other forces. We can celebrate by going to your nearest memorial or at my school at 11:00am we have a minutes silence. This poem was written by Laurence Binyon.

With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children, England mourns for her dead across the sea. Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit, Fallen in the cause of the free.
Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres, There is music in the midst of desolation And a glory that shines upon our tears.
They went with songs to the battle, they were young, Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow. They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted; They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.
They mingle not with their laughing comrades again; They sit no more at familiar tables of home; They have no lot in the labour of the day-time; They sleep beyond England’s foam.
But where our desires are and our hopes profound, Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight, To the innermost heart of their own land they are known As the stars are known to the Night;
As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain, As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness, To the end, to the end, they remain.

Question Time:

What does this day mean to you?

Are you rekated to a  person who fought in the wars?

In a couple of weeks I start bike ed, which is where we learn how to ride on roads safely. We need to have a proper bike and helmet. Our bikes need to have gears, front brakes, reflectors and a working chain.

Before we start bike ed, we have our bikes and helmets checked. Then we can go for some rides around the neighbourhood.

In term 3 (next term) we get to go on a camp for 3 days and do some long bike rides and stay in a cabin. This should be so much fun.  We don’t take our own bikes on the camp, but we get to use special bikes.   Here is a picture of my bike:

My Cat…

7 05 2013

I have a ginger cat called Garfield. He is a nice and funny cat that thinks he owns the whole house. When we first went to the pet shop he was meowing at the cage while the others turned there backs at us and stared out the other end of the cage. So we bought him and called him Garfield.

Anzac Day

24 04 2013

On the 25th of April we remember the soldiers in the war and how they protected our country. I am thankful and i hope you are too.

Here is a poem to help us remember:

Flanders Field

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
